Writers Retreat is dedicated to providing proper Yorkshire hospitality to all our guests. Our
wonderful team work tirelessly to ensure everything is perfect, so that all you need to think
about is your itinerary. Whether you’re here for a corporate team building retreat or social, an
exec residential to produce a key pitch or report, or you’re a remote worker who wants peace,
quiet and decent coffee in beautiful surroundings, you’re in the right place.
Since taking ownership of our venue in the picturesque village of Beal this year, we’ve
transformed the space into a peaceful haven for businesses, creatives, and anyone who needs
to focus on a project they care about.
Easily accessible
The closeness of the retreat to the main motorway network and both Doncaster and Selby train
stations makes it easily accessible, and writers, academics and execs are now travelling in from
across the country. We even have exec transport to take your team members to and from their
nearest commuter hub in style!
Beautiful rooms
We can accommodate 18 people per retreat and each room has private bath/shower room
facilities. Our elegant communal areas have all the tech you need to facilitate your best work,
along with quieter sitting areas and even a rooftop terrace. Our venue is also just metres from
the stunning North Yorkshire countryside.
Homecooked food with a special touch
Our on-site chef Shane is always on point when it comes to our food and drink offer. He’s
passionate about creating food that’s homecooked with a special touch, using fresh ingredients
and local produce which is often sourced from farms and suppliers in the local area.
Refreshments and meals are served in our impressive dining room, and we keep the teas,
coffees and snacks coming all day too.
Expert facilitation
If you’re here to complete a specific project, why not opt for a facilitated workshop or mentoring
session? We have several in-house experts, including experienced storytelling workshop
provider Sara Bodinar. Sara is an honorary fellow at Nottingham University with 20 years’
experience in sales and marketing, as well as being an award-winning screenwriter and
playwright! Sara offers a unique and powerful combination of business and the arts to help you
build compelling narratives that build trust and set you apart from the competition.
