This fabulous venue, in Beal in the heart of Yorkshire, offers a range of delights for authors and writers of all levels. Relax or write in your room with your own dedicated writing facilities or in one of the quiet communal areas. In the evening enjoy an amble around the village and countryside and socialise in our comfortable lounge by the open fire.

Acclaimed novelist, short-story writer and journalist, Shelley Weiner, will be joining us as our writer-in-residence for this retreat. Shelley is a longstanding tutor at the Faber Academy and delivers regular tutoring at other international venues.

1st Floor

Ground Floor
We do have a ground floor bedroom available on special request for anyone with mobility issues.

Arrive on day one from 2pm (earlier arrival can be arranged, if needed) and settle into your room at our homely and peaceful venue in Yorkshire. Writing time starts just as soon as you’re ready either in the peace of your comfortable room or in one of our shared writing areas. Afternoon tea is included on your first day and refreshments will be available on arrival.

We have a full schedule, too, of optional additional activities and readings.

Daily one-to-one sessions with Shelley.
All meals and refreshments including afternoon tea on the first day and breakfast on the final day.
