When it doesn’t go to plan….

April saw our first retreat back since lockdown and it planned to be a fabulous 3 days (as always). At Writers’ Retreat UK, we only ever book venues that have been checked out by ourselves or have come highly recommended. Unfortunately, COVID restrictions meant we were unable to check out our latest addition to our list of fabulous venues so we booked on trust that the venue would be as described. It turned out to be far from as described, so much so that we had absolutely no choice but to send our writers home after only one night, which was devastating for the WRUK team and for the writers who had travelled to join the retreat.

All of our writers have gone home with the offer of a full refund, compensation for additional travel costs and a free place on a specially scheduled retreat on 18th June. As a business, whilst we have been hit badly by COVID, our first class service to writers is our highest priority and will not be compromised, at any cost.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to those writers that came and for their complete understanding in the face of the cancellation. We have now secured another fabulous venue (and, yes, we’ve checked it out personally) and will run our June and July retreats there in the Yorkshire Dales.

We felt that by sharing our experience here, future writers who are considering joining one of our retreats will see that we are committed to delivering the highest possible quality retreats and will go to whatever lengths are necessary to achieve that.
